Enough Rope

When I was growing up, one of my mother’s favorite expressions was “give someone enough rope and they’ll hang themselves.” Today the news seems dominated by a couple of stories that remind me of that.

The first is New York Governor Eliot Spitzer resigning in disgrace over a prostitution scandal.  Now I don’t think there was any actual rope involved in “Client 9″s case, but well, you get the idea!

The second story is the sudden resignation of Admiral William Fallon, one of the strongest firewalls in the Bush Administration against an unnecessary confrontation with Iran.

However, unlike Gov. Spitzer, Adm. Fallon isn’t necessarily the one I see here reeling out the rope for his own hanging. That distinction is reserved for the Bush Administration if they continue to be heedless to the good Admiral’s counsel. And, I fear if we are not vigilant, they may be dragging the entire nation to the gallows with them…

On Sunday, April 27th, we’ll be holding a fund rasing dinner for the campaign.

So far I’ve been out listening to groups about their concerns for the district. Now it’s time for me to speak. I won’t just be outlining my plans for the capaign, but my own personal vision for the new pardigm of politics in the 21st century.

The theme of the presentation will be Human Unity, and we’ll have more details coming soon…

Edit: Date for fund raiser changed on  04/01/08.
